Roots in
Regulation

A nature immersion camp for curious little bee-ings

This summer, children ages 5–11 are invited to slow down, dig in, and discover the aliveness within their own bodies and in the natural world around them. Over four days of hands-on outdoor exploration, campers will move through the sea, forest, farm, and desert — learning from the land, from one another, and from the subtle wisdom of their own nervous systems.

About the Camp

Learning from the land,
from one another, and from within

At Roots in Regulation, we believe children are designed to be in loving relationship with the natural world — and that nature, in turn, has a remarkable way of helping us find our way back to ourselves.

Each day is anchored in a different habitat theme, inviting campers to explore the incredible diversity of living systems on Earth while practicing the art of being present in their own bodies. Through garden tending, nature-based yoga, cooperative play, animal lessons, creative crafting, and habitat-inspired snacks, every moment is designed to be nourishing — for curious minds and growing nervous systems alike.

Our days hold a gentle rhythm of structured and free nature play, so children have both the guidance they need and the spaciousness to simply be — to wonder, to wander, and to connect.

Daily Rhythm

A day that feels like
a deep breath

Each day follows a warm, predictable rhythm that supports regulation and belonging — from the moment campers arrive to the moment they head home.

8:30 – 9:00am

Morning Grounding

We begin together — a sensory check-in, a breath, a moment to arrive fully in the body.

9:00 – 11:45am

Active Exploration

Movement, making, garden tasks, and habitat-inspired snack woven through a morning of curiosity.

12:30 – 1:30pm

Lunch & Rest

A nourishing midday pause for eating, resting, and free connection with friends.

1:30 – 4:00pm

Afternoon Immersion

Animal lessons, creative projects, cooperative play, and co-creative music-making.

4:00 – 4:30pm

Closing Ritual

We end together — memory mapping, journaling, maybe a little dance party.

Our Four Themes

Four habitats. Four days.
One living, breathing world.

🌊

Day 1 — Sea & Aquatic Habitats

Campers dive into the world of aquatic ecosystems. We'll learn about amphibians, build Toad Abodes from found nature materials, explore stream stewardship, and move our bodies like seaweed in the current. Expect water play, sorting activities, and blue smoothies.

🌲

Day 2 — Forest Habitat

We head into the layers of the forest — canopy, understory, and the roots below. Campers will tend to the garden, make nesting bags for birds, build a collective nest, brew their own herbal iced tea, and spend time listening to the living world. Roots like the forest. Roots like your nervous system.

🐓

Day 3 — Farm Habitat

A day for getting hands in the soil. Campers will learn safe tool use, design their own dream farm, meet the chickens, try Hapazome leaf pounding art, and plant wildflower seeds to take home. We'll explore plant anatomy and talk about what it means to grow something with care.

☀️

Day 4 — Desert Habitat

We close the week exploring sun-loving ecosystems. Campers will propagate succulents to take home, build irrigation systems with PVC piping, create sun print art, and flow through our own sun salutation sequence — before a full habitat animal hunt and a celebration of all we've discovered together.
